Port of Baku new tugboats welcoming ceremony

Baku International Maritime Trade Port launched two new tugboats named Alat and SilkWay.

The tugboats were produced by the Turkish company Loyd Shipyard.

Rescue operations of ships, fire fighting, etc. The ships are equipped with the most advanced radar installations and meet modern requirements.

The total capacity of the ship ‘Alat’ is 56 tons and the ship ‘SilkWay’ is 82 tons. The maximum speed of the ships reaches 10 knots. After the tugboats were launched, their total number reached seven. There are generally 12 ships in the Baku International Maritime Trade Port.

The cargo transfer potential of Baku International Sea Trade Port, opened on May 14, 2018, is 15 million tons, including 100,000 containers annually in the first stage.

Of the 12 existing docks, 7 serve dry cargo ships, 2 serve ferries, and the other 2 serve Ro-Ro and Ro-Pax type ships. Another dock is used for maintenance of the port’s fleet.
